How to build your name with LEGO® bricks
This guide helps you go from an on-screen design to a real build with LEGO-style bricks. Use the LEGO name generator to get a preview and piece inventory.
1. Design your name in the generator
Type your name or word in the generator and try all three sizes (S, M, L). Letters are currently flat on the baseplate (one layer, top-down). Large (L) letters are more impressive but use more LEGO bricks; small (S) works well for compact mosaics or fine detail.
2. Note the brick inventory
Each letter shows an estimated list of pieces by color and size (for example, 2×2 red bricks). Add up quantities across all letters before buying or sorting from your LEGO collection.
3. Prepare the baseplate
Place letters on a baseplate or flat surface matching the preview color. Leave a small gap between letters if you plan to display them separately.
4. Build letter by letter
Assemble each character following the preview pattern, layer by layer. If you lack the exact color, use a close substitute — contrast matters most for readability.
5. Creative ideas for LEGO names
- Bedroom door sign with a name in LEGO bricks.
- Party decoration for a building-themed birthday.
- Personalized gift built by family using the generator inventory.
- School project on typography and modular construction.
